Team is pleased to present a two-person exhibition of new works by New York-based artists Marc Hundley and Ross Knight at the 2012 Frieze Art Fair. The fair will run from the 11th through the 14th of October. Hours are Noon to 7pm. The private view is scheduled for Wednesday, the 10th, and is open by invitation only.
Hundley will be represented by works on paper that employ the vernacular of printmaking and advertising, while Knight will exhibit new sculptures composed of utilitarian materials integrated into idiosyncratic and sophisticated singular structures. The pieces were made specifically to be shown together in our stand at London’s Regent’s Park.
Both artists mine the territories of collage, and of the functional, foregrounding their unique, handmade constructions in found materials. For Knight, his raw components are commonly prefabricated industrial elements (a wooden cutting board, foam packing materials, a plastic massage tool) that he strips of their basic functions in order to re-contextualize them with other materials in sly, seductive, and often sexual ways. Hundley selectively borrows from pre-existing images and texts, often ‘60s and ‘70s era art, music, film, and literature, composing heartfelt advertisements for poetic moments, aesthetic ideas, and shared experiences, both past and present. While Hundley’s work relates romantically to the realm of memory, and Knight deals deftly and concretely with physical relationships, both artists assemble their materials into complex works that feel delightfully new and oddly familiar.
Team will bring the work of these two artists together for the first time at Frieze Art Fair 2012, Booth E15.
